Powerhouses Back Circle, Bent Street, Gold is Money and Tiger Bay were amongst the teams to seal their knockout berths when the GT Beer ‘Keep Ya Five Alive’ Futsal Championship continued on Thursday at the National Gymnasium, Mandela Avenue.
Bent Street bested LA Ballers 2-0. Colin Nelson recorded a double in the 19th and 20th minute respectively. On the other hand, Back Circle crushed Bad-a-Yard 4-1. Jermain Beckles bagged a double in the 5th and 20th minute while Selwyn Williams and Rondel Peters scored in the 12th and 15th minute each. For the loser, Leon Sealey Yaw netted in the 16th minute.
Meanwhile Gold is Money edged Sophia-(A) 2-1. Keifer Brandt bagged a brace in the 11th and 18th minute respectively. For the loser, Dwayne Lowe netted in the seventh minute. Also, Tiger Bay pounced on Leopold Street 4-2. James Meredith feasted on the Leopold defense with a helmet trick in the fifth, eighth, ninth and 13th minute.
For Leopold Street Darren Benjamin tallied a brace in the fourth and 15th minute. In other results, Spot-7 defeated Sophia-B 3-2 while Melanie-B edged Avocado Ballers 1-0. Showstoppers crushed Broad Street 5-0 while Future Stars squeaked past Albouystown 3-2 and Sparta Boss drew with Alexander Village 1-1.
Winner of the event will pocket $550,000, with the second, third and fourth placed sides collecting $250,000, $125,000 and $75,000 respectively.
