The Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) in collaboration with the National Sports Commission (NSC) and Ministry of Education (MOE) will serve off the 2019 edition of the National Schools Novices, Elite Teams and Singles Table Tennis championships today at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall (CASH), Homestretch Avenue, the event is scheduled to conclude this Sunday.
Teams from Bartica, Linden, Berbice, East Bank Demerara, East Coast Demerara and the West Demarara area are scheduled to participate in the three-day event and there will be awards up for grabs including trophies for the Most Disciplined Team, Best Dressed and Most Improved Team.
Last year’s winner in the Boys’ Elite Team category, Bishops’ High, will be hard pressed in the bid to retain the title with Chase Academic Foundation posing a threat.
Boys’ Elite Singles winner in 2018, Kaysan Ninvalle, will find stiff opposition when defending his title with the likes of Jonathan van Lange, Jamal Nicholas and Terrence Rausch more than capable of usurping him.
The following categories will be contested in this competition:
1. Open Elite Team, 2. Open Boys Novices Team, 3. Open Girls Novices Team, 4. Open Boys Novices Singles, 5. Open Girls Novices Singles, 6. Open Elite Boys Singles, 7. Open Elite Girls Singles.
