In efforts to promote and contribute to cricket development in Guyana, the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) continued its collaborative growth initiative by donating cricket gear to the East Ruimveldt Community Enhancement Committee (ERCEC).
ERCEC members expressed pleasure that the GCB saw it fit to donate the gear indicating that it will go a far way in helping to introduce and develop the skills of the players.
A committee member stated that as it relates to cricket, the objectives of the East Ruimveldt Community Enhancement Committee were likely to be aligned with the GCB, since their committee possesses plans and designed programmes that once implemented effectively, will ensure that young children become involved in the sport; are kept motivated in the same, and are able to grasp crucial fundamentals relating to the game – basis laws, techniques, discipline and accountability, fair-play and unity.
Selena Bacchus, Assistant Administrator of the GCB, commended the ERCEC for taking steps to ensure that cricket is played in their community and at their ground. Bacchus posited that the nursery of cricket is created here, from the communities and from the schools.
On this basis, the GCB is proud to make this timely contribution, which we believe will assist this committee in their endeavors, as you grow from strength to strength.
The presentation was made on Saturday last and coincided with the committee’s Community Sports Day and Mini Expo.
