A coroner’s inquest into the death of 22-year-old Collin Bourne who was killed in a three-vehicular smash up along the Soesdyke Public Road, East Bank Demerara is scheduled to commence before Magistrate Annette Singh at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts. In a notice published by the Registrar of the Supreme Court, Sueanna Lovell, a total of 11 witnesses inclusive of police ranks are to testify at the hearings before three jurors.
Those listed to testify are Hugh Munroe of 2393 Section C Block X Great Diamond, East Bank Demerara; Krishna Indar of 330 Newton Enmore Village, East Coast Demerara; David Carto of 22 D’Aguiar’s Park, East Bank Demerara; Gavin Todd of 456 Sparendaam Village, East Bank Demerara; Alwin Alexander, of Kuru Kuru Squatting Area, Soesdyke, Linden; Roschael Bourne of 91 Timehri Prison Area, East Bank; Afeena Howard, Alliance Road Timehri, East Bank Demerara; Police Corporal Ashbourn Schultz, Chrison Schultz and Police Constable Chandrdev all of the Brickdam Police Station and Police Constable Detective Marlon Hannibal of the Timehri Police Station.
Police in a statement said that they were investigating a fatal accident which occurred about 22:15hrs on March 31. Police said that involved in the accident were minibuses PHH 3467, BVV 5802 and motorcycle CH 6758.
Bourne was said to be riding the motorcycle. Enquiries disclosed that minibus PHH 3467 was proceeding south along the eastern carriageway reportedly at a fast rate of speed whilst minibus BVV 5802 and motorcycle CH 6758 were proceeding in the opposite direction with the cycle in the rear, when the cycle overtook BVV 5802 and while on the eastern carriageway collided with minibus PHH 3467.
As a result of the impact, Bourne fell onto the western carriageway in the path of BVV 5802 and was struck. He was picked up in an unconscious condition and taken to the East Bank Demerara Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. The alcohol level of the driver of PHH 3467 was found above the legal limit.
