Banks DIH Chairman, Clifford Reis C.C.H, was recently honoured in New York by the Guyana-Jamaica Friendship Association (GJFA).
Mr. Reis, who has been Chairman of the Company for 30 years, was given the honour at the third Biennial Ball of the GJFA at Antun’s Ballroom in Queens, New York on Saturday October 12, 2019.
During his tenure as Chairman, Banks DIH has had unprecedented success with more than 25 years of Dividends paid out to their shareholders and impressive expansions of its operations. There are now seven companies in the multibillion-dollar enterprise, which is indeed a flagship company of the English-speaking Caribbean.
President of GJFA, Dr. Frank Denbow, in presenting Mr. Reis with a plaque, remarked on the inspirational and innovative leadership of Mr. Reis and the great sense of corporate responsibility shown by Banks DIH over the years with their involvement with Guyana’s youth and their social development.
Dr. Denbow praised the Company for their worker friendly environment and the consistent development of the employees to an extent where they are able to fulfill their potential and in many cases exceed their expectations.
In his response, Mr. Reis talked about the four pillars on which Banks DIH is founded and the company’s policy to ensure that its customers, employees, shareholders and suppliers are well taken care of.
He praised the Guyana-Jamaica Friendship Association for the stellar work in the fields of Education and Health Care especially in underserved areas of Guyana and Jamaica.
He challenged the organisation to go even further by developing programmes to improve job security and to foster good family and community relationships in the communities where they are serving.
The third Biennial Ball of GJFA also honoured outstanding Jamaican Gynaecologist, Dr. Millicent Comrie, Director, Brooklyn Heights Women’s Center at Maimonides in New York, for her pioneering work in the management of uterine fibroids with the goal of avoiding hysterectomies, a common outcome in women of color.
GJFA is a 501c3 non-profit organisation in New York which has held several symposia in Guyana in both Health Care and Early Childhood Education as well as Medical outreach in Essequibo and the adoption of Mashabo Primary School and indigenous community on the Essequibo Coast.
