The popular BCB/Let’s Bet Sports 100 Ball cricket tournament continued on Sunday last for teams in the Upper Corentyne area. Three teams, Dukestown, No. 70 Spartan and No. 72 All Stars advanced to the semifinals, joining No. 68 Turn Team who drew a bye.
Dukestown Warriors defeated Bomb Squad by seven wickets; No. 72 All Stars defeated No. 70 MYO by 23 runs while No. 70 ‘A’ Spartans got past No. 64 Fighting Marines by 36 runs. One of these four teams would eventually emerge as the Upper Corentyne champions and then go on to play in the overall Berbice tournament.
They would clash with the champions of West Berbice, New Amsterdam/Canje and Lower/ Central Corentyne. BCB President Hilbert Foster stated the overall finals would most likely be played in the Upper Corentyne area, as crowd support is usually very solid.
