Founder/Coordinator of the 7th Annual GT Beer Keep-Your-5-Alive Futsal Football tournament Kevin Adonis received the sponsorship cheque during a presentation at Thirst Park. He thanked Banks DIH Limited for sponsoring the tournament which kicked off last evening at the National Gymnasium.
Some 24 teams will battle for supremacy with nine more games set to be contested tomorrow following the nine on the opening night. Teams from Georgetown, West Demerara, East Coast and East Bank will be in action for a top prize of $550,000 and the championship Trophy with the finals set for November 9th.
According to Adonis, that tournament will be played on a round robin format this year with four teams each competing in six groups with the winners advancing to the knockout round. First round matches will be played also next Tuesday and Thursday before the knockout stage gets underway.
The second place will collect $250,000, 3rd place 125,000 and 4th $75,000.
