As the nation observed National Tree Day 2019, the Minister of Natural Resources, Raphael Trotman, on Friday visited the Judy’s School of New Beginnings in Red Village, Onderneeming Essequibo to conduct a tree planting exercise.

The Minister, prior to the exercise, ensured that he interacted with the students of the school, explaining the importance of trees, and their preservation to help us live.
He explain that “all trees stand as a source of sustenance to us and by planting them we reap the benefits directly.”
Minister Trotman and the students planted cherry, soursop, mango and pomegranate trees.
Further to this, Minister Trotman, in maintaining his commitment to residents at an outreach in May of 2019, visited a potential community sandpit.
He listened to the residents as they explained the vision for the pit, and noted the immense benefits it would bring to the community.
In this regard, Minister Trotman has committed to assisting to ensure that the Red Village residents benefits from this.
Minister Trotman also took the time to interact with residents of the village, hearing of their issues, and how collaborative efforts could be made to assist.
Finally, before his departure, the Minister also made a donation of solar lights and vegetable plants to the community. Another promise he made during the May outreach activity. The residents were pleased to have been able to interact with the Minister and applauded his efforts in sustaining biodiversity and ensuring that the area’s natural resources are sustainably used to the benefit of residents.
