An early morning walk after leaving a bar ended badly for Alanka Homphus, 27, of Best Village, West Coast Demerara (WCD).
He was shot while in the company friends.
According to “D” division commander, Linden Lord, the victim, Homphus, left a bar located in Crane Village in the company of two friends.
While they were walking along the Crane public road, a motorcar pulled up and one of the occupants discharged rounds at Homphus and his friends.
This happened at around 02:30hrs yesterday.
Lord added that Homphus was hit by a round in his abdomen after which his friends rushed him to the West Demerara Regional Hospital. Homphus was later referred to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPHC) to undergo emergency surgery.
He is said to be in a stable condition.
Investigations are currently ongoing and police are on the lookout for the motorcar involved in the shooting.
