Jamaul John turned in an outstanding performance to win the feature event at the 15th edition of the Hand-in-Hand Insurance Cycle Meet which was contested yesterday at the inner circuit of the National Park.
Respective prize winners with their accolades alongside representatives of the sponsors and organisers.
John signaled his intentions early on but had to overcome the challenges of his rivals with whom he shared the lead in the early stages of the 35-lap race. However with six laps remaining, John, Paul De Nobrega, Briton John, Christopher Griffith and Curtis Dey broke away from the pack as the pace increased considerably, and it boiled down to a battle among them.
However, John sprinted his way to the finish line ahead of his rivals to win the duel in a time of One Hour 15 Minutes 48 Seconds.
De Nobrega took the 2nd place followed by Briton John, Griffith, Dey and Michael Anthony in that order to complete the top six places. Junior Niles won the Veterans Under-50, 5-lap race in a time of 13 Minutes 05.45 Seconds ahead of Kwame Ridley and Jaikarran Sukhai.
Ian Jackson captured the Veterans Over-50, 5-lap contest with Andy Spencer 2nd and Kennard Lovell, third. The Juvenile 10-lap event was taken by Sherwin Samspon in a time of 21 Minutes 56.14 Seconds while Aaron Newton took the runner up spot.
The Mountain Bike 5-lap event went to Darius Ramsarran, Nigel London grabbed second place while Lennox Jackman placed third. Lennox Jackman won the BMX Boys 6-9 years 2 lap event ahead of Aditya Deokarran and William Green. Jason Primo claimed the Boys 9-14, 3-lap title. (Zaheer Mohamed)
