Good Success and Sans Souci Jaguars will collide today at the Wakenaam Community Centre ground for the inaugural Birbal Contracting
Establishment T20 title. The match is expected to be keenly contested since both teams registered comfortable victories in their semi final matches with Good Success defeating Sans Souci by seven wickets and Sans Souci Jaguars getting the better of Maria’s Pleasure by 31 runs.
Despite missing some of their key players, Good Success skipper Imran Khan expressed confidence of his team going all the way. Speaking with Kaieteur Sport prior to his team’s practice session yesterday, Khan said his players are confident and eager to go. “Despite the absence of some of our key players, we have what it takes to succeed. It’s just about the other players stepping up and execute. It is important for us to support each other,” he added.
Afridi Mohamed of Sans Souci Jaguars said that they will not take any team for granted despite being at full strength for the game. “We have a good all-round team and the boys are confident.
Apart from Khan, Good Success will depend on the likes of all-rounder Vickram Ramnarine, Mahase Ramnarine, Tulsieram Ramadeen, Wazir Khan and Devendra Hansraj, while Sans Souci Jaguars will look to Siddiq Mohamed, Nokta Moses, Beesham Moses, Zameer Zaman and Safraz Mohamed.
The winning team will received a trophy and $50,000 and the runner up a trophy and $35,000. Prizes will also be given to the man-of-the-match in the final, best batsman and best bowler in the tournament, while the top 2019 Secondary School Entrance Examination (Common Entrance) student from the winning village (team) will receive $25,000.
Action gets underway at 13:00hrs.
