Marketing Coordinator of Hand-in-Hand Mutual Fire and Life Insurance Companies, Shafeena Juman (right), presents the sponsorship cheque to coordinator Hassan Mohammed.
ch Hassan Mohamed stages the annual 11-race programme exclusively sponsored by Hand-in-Hand Mutual Fire and Life Insurance Companies.
Guyana’s oldest insurance agency is sponsoring the event for the 15th consecutive year, and Mohamed is once again excited to have the company onboard.
The partnership was renewed yesterday morning when Mohamed received the sponsorship cheque from Marketing Coordinator Shafeena Juman at Hand-in-Hand’s Lot 1-4 Avenue of the Republic headquarters in Georgetown.
“Sponsorship is very important to not just cycling, but sports in general, so it’s always good to have this kind of commitment from companies like Hand-in-Hand,” Mohamed, the long-serving cycling administrator, said.
Hand-in-Hand Mutual Fire and Life Insurance Companies has been a firm supporter of sports development in Guyana, and this collaboration with cycling is just another demonstration of that commitment.
“The Hand-in-Hand Fire Insurance Company is happy to be able to sponsor this annual event for its 15thyear and we anticipate that this year will be bigger and better. We will continue to remain committed to our youth’s development through sporting events such as cycling, while fulfilling our corporate and social responsibility,” the company said in a statement.
The event, which pedals off at 09:00hrs, will be headlined by the 35-lap School Boys and Invitational race, with Michael Anthony of Linden looking to defend his title, having won last year’s event in a time of one hour, 19 minutes, 14.36s.
Other winners from 2018 were Adelia Hodge (10-lap Juveniles), Ozia McUally (Mountain Bikes), Jude Bentley (Veterans Under-50) and Jaheme Henry (12-14 Boys and Girls).
As has been the case over the last 14 years, representatives of Hand-in-Hand Mutual Fire and Life Insurance Companies will be on hand to witness the riders in action and later assist in the distribution of prizes.
