Please allow me this much overdue opportunity in addressing His Excellency President of Guyana David A. Granger. In sharing my view on the budding civil unrest law abiding Guyanese are being forced to endure at the behest of Jagdeo, I am won’t to remind you of a line from William Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar in which he wrote, “There is a tide in the affairs of men which when taken at a flood, leads on to fortune.” What Shakespeare did not say, but is implied is that this flood has a time stamp attached to it. Timing is everything, particularly in politics, and I fear that because of your allowing that flood to slip by and is now a gentle lapping at the political shore in relation to the opportunity, this bane of the Guyanese existence, Jadgeo, is yours to own. The civil chaos witnessed by the Nation at the behest of this power drunk, unpatriotic person could have been avoided.
May I remind you, that peacefully protesting Guyanese during his administration were tear-gassed at Linden and a young Afro Guyanese was arrested for flipping a bird at him. Just this morning I looked at a publication from back in the day of a Jadgeo Minister flipping a bird (a middle finger) of courses he was not arrested. A political commentator was murdered for being anti government and on and on.
These acts and more were all unleashed by the administration or supporters of same on citizens protesting the numerous illegalities of the PPP while in office. For a former military man, Sir you have dropped the ball in allowing this thug to run free rather than holding him responsible for the so far, and probably never will be revealed irregularities under his watch either as President or party leader after been kicked to the curb for seeking a third run for office. As party leader, I must point fingers at the spineless executives of the PPP who have allowed him to totally takeover the party, for all intents and purposes, the PPP is now HIS PARTY. Just look at his selection for Presidential candidate over more credibly qualified candidates. This lack of action in dealing with Jadgeo must be placed at your feet Sir, you have allowed him to feel and act as though he is untouchable. Jagdeo should have been in jail or at least before the courts to answer for his sins against our country. His disrespect has seeped over to the diplomatic community to the point that the US, UK and the EU Ambassadors could lecture you and the Nation as to what they think we should or must do, or else. The temerity of these… never mind their countries are in turmoil under absolutely inept so-called leadership, one look at that immoral, ignorant empty headed Dodo Bird Trump would make one wonder why that woman and US Ambassador to Guyana will not better spend her time in lecturing her resident of the White House to some form of respectability. The British PM is looking at being put out to pasture anytime now and these Ambassadors are lecturing us. Never mind they are guests of Guyana. Where is Linden Forbes Sampson Burnham when you need him? Jadgeo and these grandstanders would have been put in their place.
Your failure to act on Jadgeo, Sir when first elected has turned this Frankenstein into a full-fledged monster who would stop at nothing to get his way. Take a page out of the Chinese book on Singapore Sir before this daily exercise devolve into a full out conflagration. Put a stop to Jagdeo now.
Respectfully,
Claudeston G. Massiah
