After a successful Junior Under-19 campaign with Guyana winning 3-gold and two bronze medals, the Guyanese Team of Narayan Ramdhani,
Priyanna Ramdhani, Jonathan Mangra, Tyrese Jeffrey and Akili Haynes turned focus to the Carebaco Open International which served off on Tuesday last at the Garfield Sobers Gymnasium in Barbados.
Although this tournament is if a higher standard as players from around the world are playing for Olympic Qualifying points, the Guyanese players are trying their utmost to stand up to these world class players and try to get as much points as possible to improve their ranking points to get into the Olympics.
Twenty-three (23) countries with 70 athletes are competing, they are the Czech Republic, Germany, Panama, USA, Canada, Italy, Luxembourg, Wales, Poland, Finland, Iceland, Slovakia, Suriname, Haiti, Brazil, Ecuador, Mexico, Jamaica, England, Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana, Barbados, and Mongolia.
Reaching the quarter-finals/round of 8 in the championship are: Narayan Ramdhani and Priyanna Ramdhani in the Mixed Doubles; Jonathan Mangra and Kathrine Winter of Jamaica in Mixed Doubles; Narayan Ramdhani and Jonathan Mangra in Men’s Doubles and Priyanna Ramdhani and Sabrina Scott of Barbados in the Ladies Doubles.

Tyrese Jeffrey defeated Raval Jaggessar of Trinidad: 22-20, 16-21, 21-17
Akili Haynes defeated Aslam Bhikha of Barbados: 21-8, 21-14

Jonathan Mangra (GUY) &Katherine Winter (JAM) defeated Amir Mahabir & Meera Mahabir of Trinidad: 21-13, 21-5. The tournament continued last evening with quarter-final matches.
