The curtains will fall on the sixth Annual New Era Entertainment/Mohamed’s Enterprise futsal tournament tonight in the ‘mining town’ of Linden when Hard Knocks matches skills with NK Ballers in the final for the grand $600,000 cash prize following Thursday’s exciting semifinal round.
The opening semifinal on Thursday evening at the event’s venue, the Mackenzie Sports Club (MSC) hard court, produced 37 goals with Hard Knocks outgunning home side Dave & Celina All-stars 23-14.
The match lasted 20-minutes per half and Pernell Schultz banged in nine goals for the winners while Daniel Wilson fired home an almost impressive eight goals. Trenton Lashley was part of the action with a hat-trick, Colin Nelson a brace and goalkeeper Sese Norville joined in on the fun as well with a penalty.
Darrel George scored four goals for the losers with supporting hat-tricks each from Benjamin Opara and Kevin Phillips.
The feature match saw NK Ballers get past High Rollers 7-5. The win was spearheaded by a hat-trick from Donovan Francis, while Keon Soares assisted well with a brace to his name on the score sheet.
Joshawn Moore and Omar Brewly each bagged braces in the losing effort for High Rollers.
The winning team will pocket $600,000, second place $250,000 and teams finishing third and fourth will take home $100,000 and $50,000 respectively.
The third place playoff that will see High Rollers and Dave & Celina’s All Stars being pitted against each other will kickoff at 20:00hrs, while the final kicks off at 21:00hrs.
An after party is slated to take place at Time Square Lounge.
