DEAR EDITOR,
I read an online news story in which it is stated that President of the Guyana Bar Association, Teni Housty dismissed claims that the Chief Justice (acting) Roxane George-Wiltshire has shown bias in the legal challenge against the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM).
Any sane person who read the consequential ruling of the Caribbean Court of Justice will conclude that elections should be held by September 18th, 2019, as was alluded to by the Chief Justice, so I agree with Mr Housty.
However, Senior Counsel Stanely Marcus is no ‘mook’; he knows very well that his case lacks merit. But I believe that this application is a clever ruse by Marcus and his handlers. I believe that by accusing her of being biased, they are hoping that she will overcompensate in her ruling.
I trust that the CJ will see right through their ploy and stand on the side of law and order, adherence to the constitution and adherence to the ruling of the CCJ.
The desperation of this cabal is unprecedented.
Regards
Erin Northe
