The CID rank who was under close arrest after being accused of planting evidence in a Berbice business premises has been transferred.
He has been moved to the Tactical Services Unit (TSU) pending the outcome of the investigation into the alleged act.
According to senior police sources, the rank was placed under close arrest for five days. A file was prepared and sent for advice, while the transfererd.
The CID rank was arrested after a couple from Reliance, East Canje claimed that he planted marijuana in their yard and demanded money from them.
Maria Pardesi, co-owner of the SuperBet business had told reporters that the rank demanded cash and threatened to have her husband arrested.
The couple has since sought the services of Attorney Mursalin Bhaccus, with a view of taking legal action.
