A man who stole a number of items from the Suddie Public Hospital, and later attempted to sell them to a pharmacy, told the court last Wednesday that he was only trying to help out the pharmacist without making any money off of the stolen items.
The accused, Mohamed Khan, who is a former employee of the Suddie Public Hospital, appeared before Magistrate Esther Sam in the Anna Regina Magistrates Court last Wednesday, charged with simple larceny.
Kaieteur News understands that some time last week, the 28-year-old man stole a number of items from the hospital’s medical laboratory. The items stolen included 21 packs of Dengue test, 100 microscope slides, one bottle anti-A, one bottle anti-B, one bottle anti-D and one felusion.
The court heard that Khan attempted to sell the items to a pharmacist, who later alerted officials at the hospital.
While in court on Wednesday, Khan pleaded guilty to the charge of simple larceny, which was brought before him. The man told Magistrate Sam that he was sorry for the offence and that he wouldn’t do it again.
He went on to say, “I was trying to help the man without making any money from it.” Khan was fined $25,000.
