Top ranked clubs, Eagles United and Net Rockers have booked their places in the semifinals of this year’s inaugural Divine Entertainment Summer Super Cup following wins on Wednesday night last at the Mackenzie Sports Club Ground, Linden.
The full semi final line up would be known following the two remaining quarter final matches set for tonight at the same venue. In the first game from 19:00hrs, Capital FC and Hi Stars will face off in a Group C clash while a Group D encounter between Botafago and Silver Shattas from 21:00hrs will close out quarter final play.
In Wednesday’s matches, Net Rockers sailed past Blueberry Hill 3-0 behind goals from Shane Luckie (29th), Denzil Pryce (81st) and Deshawn Joseph in the 87th minute. The win ensured sealed Eagles’ passage as both teams had drawn their matches against the other team in Group B, Amelia’s Ward Panthers.
In the Group A showdown, Eagles United, the number one seeded team turned back the challenge of Coomacka even as the latter drew first blood in the 3rd minute through a Ronny Sanchez strike like they had done in their upset win against Topp XX.
However, Eagles United were not in a mood to encourage such a repeat and drew level in the 30th minute thanks to a Shavane Seaforth goal to end the first half, level. The winning goal would come in the 58th minute after a foul resulted in a free kick for the Eagles side which was blasted into the back of the nets by Colwyn ‘Buck’ Drakes.
