A man who is well known to the authorities and was recently released from jail is again behind bars after he was sent to jail on Monday for 36 months. He was found guilty on a charge of break and enter and larceny.
Abdool Zainood, called “Pataroll”, 41 of Lot 35 Shieldstown; West Bank Berbice, appeared before Magistrate Rabindranauth Singh in the Blairmont Magistrate’s Court where he was found guilty.
Zainood is accused of between September 20 and September 22, 2018, breaking into the premises of Serine Lilly, a business man of lot 18 Plantain Walk, West Bank Berbice.
Lilly reportedly secured his premises and went out. He subsequently received a call that his place was on fire. He immediately returned home in company with the police.
The fire was quickly extinguished. Upon checking he found that the place was ransacked and a number of items missing.
Investigations were conducted and the home of the accused was visited and the missing items were found.
The man could not give an account of how he came in possession of the items when questioned.
He was arrested, tried, found guilty.
The matter was prosecuted by woman Police Corporal Racquel Mars.
