Fisherman Masters defeated Wellman Masters by 37 runs when the teams collided in a T20 fixture on Sunday last at Malteenoes Sports Club.
Batting first, Fisherman Masters were bowled out for 78 in difficult conditions. John Sumair was the only batsman to reach double figures with 13 as Latchman Kallicharran picked up 3-30. In reply, Wellman Masters were sent packing for 41 in 19 overs. Greg De Franca made 11 as Nandram Samlall captured four wickets while Stanley Mohabir had 3-5, Danny Thomas 2-16 and Zameer Hassan 1-6.
The game was played in honour of Kallicharran who will be migrating to the USA shortly. Kallicharran, who was named man-of-the-match, expressed gratitude to the management and players of Wellman Masters and the entire softball fraternity. Owner of Wellman Masters Mike Singh thanked Kallicharran for his contribution to his team and the sport. He added that Kallicharran has been one of the most consistent performers in the team and his services will surely be missed. Singh wished him and his family well in their future endeavours.
