A man who is a known trouble maker and drug dealer, was jailed some time ago for robbing a senior policeman. He has been jailed again.
London Davis, called “Mama G”, 27, who told the court that he is a fisherman has been sentenced to four years in jail on a charge of possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking.
Davis, of Murphy Dam, Rosignol, West Bank Berbice, was charged with being in possession of 107½ grams of cannabis.
He appeared before Magistrate Rabindranauth Singh in the Blairmont Magistrate’s Court and was found guilty.
Prosecutor, Woman Corporal Racquel Mars, told the court that, on November 6, 2018 police from Blairmont Police Station went to Murphy Dam, where Davis was seen.
Upon seeing the ranks, Davis started to run. The ranks gave chase and after a lively pursuit, the culprit was apprehended. A search was conducted on him and a multi-color haversack which he had in his possession was also searched. The narcotic was found inside.
He pleaded not guilty and told the court that he does not know of any drug and doesn’t know whose bag it is was. During the trial the man called his wife as a witness.
He was found guilty and sentenced to four years in jail.
