Guyana Boys came out and displayed their mettle as they claimed Team Gold after brushing aside Barbados at the XXXVII Junior Caribbean Team Squash Championships 2019 at the QPCC Indoor Racquet Center in Trinidad and Tobago yesterday.
The second placed Guyana team of gold medal winning boys and bronze medal girls with team officials and trophy take time out for a photo.
The Girls playing in the earlier matches stormed out 4-1 winners over Bermuda to claim the third place in the Team competition.
In the Girls results:
Madison Fernandes (Guyana) – Walkover
Beau Fernandes (Guyana) – lost to Bermuda Taliah Wade 8-11 11-9 11-8 10-12 8-11
Makeda Harding (Guyana) – won over Bermuda’s Ariana Lowther – Walkover
Abosaide Cadogan (Guyana) – beat Bermuda’s Abigail Brewer 11-6 11-2 11-6
Kirsten Gomes (Guyana) – beat Bermuda’s Celia Robinson 11-1 11-1 11-3

The Boys also won 4-1 with only Daniel Islam losing to Khamal Cumberbatch for the Guyanese.
Chemar Burnham (Barbados) – lost to Guyana’s Samuel Ince-Carvalhal
Wilson Dominic (Barbados) – lost to Guyana’s Mohyran Baksh
Darien Benn (Barbados) – lost to Guyana’s Shomari Wiltshire
Aidan Parris (Barbados) – lost to Guyana’s Michael Alphonso
Barbados were able to accumulate 18 points to Guyana’s 16 to clinch the overall title.
Barbados beat Jamaica 4-1 in final to take Girls team gold. Excellent performance from the Guyanese youngsters and congratulations are in order for their impressive performances despite narrowly being edged for the Overall Team crown by the Bajans.
