Over the years I have written numerous letters saying that consensus politics was the way forward for Guyana. I see that the Government and the Opposition have chosen to go the opposite way and do the same thing the same way over and over again and expect a different result. That is, they have chosen to put party politics before putting Guyanese first, by playing the “who pon top” and the “blame game”.
Consensus politics is whereby we work together building trust, mutual understanding and mutual respect.
Now that the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) has ruled against the Government, it is expected that the Government will wise-up and do the right thing. That is, elect a Chairman from the List provided by the Opposition, the President and the Cabinet resign, and act as a caretaker Government and call elections within the time period stipulated by the Guyana Constitution, as required by the passage of the No Confidence Motion.
It is not too late to practice consensus politics rather than make Guyana the laughing stock of the Caribbean and the world.
Yours Faithfully
Sean Ori
