Chief Justice (ag) Madam Roxane George-Wiltshire should be appointed as the Interim GECOM Chairperson for this upcoming General Elections.
Without a shadow of doubt the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) judgements on the No Confidence Motion and GECOM Chairman appointment were fair, unbiased, impartial, ethical and in accordance with the rule of law.
Also without a shadow of a doubt, all the rulings made by the CCJ was a complete endorsement of the decisions made by the Honorable Chief Justice (ag). It therefore stands to reasoning that the Chief Justice (ag) Madam Roxane George–Wiltshire is fair, unbiased, impartial, ethical, as well as a person that will make decisions in compliance with the rule of law.
The Chief Justice is the person of integrity that is needed to bring some common sense to our two highly immature constitutional actors and should be the interim GECOM Chairperson for this election, after which she should be appointed as the Chancellor of the Judiciary to be the custodian of this important third branch of the Government.
With the Chief Justice as GECOM Chairperson, the partisan commissioners will have to present their positions from the point of the rule of law and not from narrow political agendas. The nation will gain from this appointment.
Yours sincerely,
Reggie Bhagwandin
