The police have once again conducted a major drug eradication exercise up the Berbice River where a number of plants, camps and nurseries were found and destroyed.
The operation featured ranks from Berbice and Georgetown. They conducted the more than 13-hour operation at Kimbia and Kaiwa. The ranks upon arrival at the different locations ventured into the jungle and located three fields measuring about four and half acres in size.
The fields were cultivated with about 25,000 cannabis plants ranging between two and seven feet in height with an estimated weight of 13,000 Kilograms. One nursery with about 3000 seedlings and about 35 Kilograms dried Cannabis were also located.
A total of four camps were also found. The plants, dried Cannabis and camps were all destroyed by fire.
There were no arrests and or incidents.
