Delroy Tyrrell won gold three times at the just concluded ASATT National Age Group Short Course Swimming Championships held from July 10 to 14 at the National Aquatic Centre in Couva, Trinidad and Tobago.
Swimming in the 15-17 Age Group category, Delroy obliterated his team mates on Thursday evening with a blistering 27.49S in his 50 backstrokes. He was the only boy to swim 27 seconds. Following up on Saturday evening, the second year 15-17 age group swimmer mesmerized the crowd with a 58.92S in the 100M Backstroke. Again, he was the only boy in this category to drop below the 1:00M mark.
Moreover, the recent graduate of Trinity College East capped off the championship with a tactical swim in the 200 Backstroke. His time of 2:10.27S was the fastest to earn him his third Gold medal for the competition.
The overseas based Guyanese plans to attend college in America and is working toward receiving a scholarship. The competition concluded on Sunday evening. ASATT uses this Meet to select the Trinidad and Tobago Goodwill Team 2019 for the event which will be held in Suriname in the month of August.
