A boat captain is in custody after he was picked up for theft and was found with an unlicensed gun.
According to the police, the boat captain was wanted for simple larceny of a quantity of fuel which occurred at Morawhanna, North West District.
He was detained on Tuesday, July 2, 2019, about 13:20hrs at the Mabaruma Police Station. A search of a haversack in his possession revealed an unlicensed pistol along with a magazine and 11 live rounds.
The 64-year-old suspect who resides in Bent Street, Georgetown, is assisting with the investigation into both matters.
