After doing some training in the game of table Tennis recently, schools on the Corentyne Coast were given an opportunity to allow their students to enhance their skills.
Two of the school, Leeds Primary and Corriverton Primary were recently the beneficiaries of Table Tennis equipment from the National Sports Commission (NSC). They receive table tennis tables, racquets and balls.
The equipment was handed over at the Ministry of the Presidency, Department of Social Cohesion, Third Annual Harmony Village day which was held at the Scotsburg Community Center ground, No 76 Village Corentyne.
The donations were made by National Table Tennis Coach attached to the NSC Linden Johnson to Sherry Jacobs, teacher of Leeds Primary School and Tiandi Heyliger teacher of the Corriverton Primary School.
Johnson was among the contingent that accompanied Minister of Social Cohesion Dr. George Norton and other Ministers to the activity.
According to Johnson, the Ministry of Social Cohesion encompasses the Departments of Youth, Sports and Culture and the NSC is an integral part of the Department of Sports.
The donation of the Table Tennis equipment is part of the widening the game and bringing Social Cohesion through sports.
The activity was well organised and well attended according to Johnson with the Ministers and other senior Government officials interacting freely with the hundreds that turned out.
