A 24-year-old bond clerk was yesterday fined for cursing a 52-year-old man who wanted to have a relationship with him. Terrence Thomas was arraigned in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts where he admitted to the charge which was read to him by Senior Magistrate Leron Daly.
The charge stated that on June 1, 2019 at 137 Lamaha Street, Georgetown, Thomas used threatening language towards Keith McKenzie.
After pleading guilty to the offence, the accused told the court that, “He turn and tell me that if I ain’t deh with he, he will do all kind thing to me, so I ‘cuss’ he up.”
Thomas was then fined $10,000 for his actions or in default, he is to spend two weeks in prison.
According to information, the two parties live in the same yard. They were on speaking terms until Thomas brought his girlfriend to stay with him.
The girlfriend during her stay had damaged property of McKenzie and was sentenced to eight months in prison. On the day in question, McKenzie had put his relationship proposal to Thomas and that is when the accused cursed him. A report was made and Thomas was charged for the offence.
Meanwhile, Alkelvin Pratt, a 42-year-old electrician, of 337 East Ruimveldt was also fined after he behaved in a disorderly manner. His charge read that on June 26, last, at East Ruimveldt, Georgetown, while in a public place, Pratt behaved in a disorderly manner.
He pleaded guilty to the charge and was fined $10,000 or in default, he is to spend two weeks in prison.
The facts of his charge indicated that on the day in question, police ranks attempted to search his premises for guns and ammunition. However, Pratt began to behave in a disorderly manner.
Nothing was found on his premises but, although he was warned by the police ranks, Pratt still continued with the disorderly behaviour. He was then taken into custody and charged.
