Suriname prison authorities have recaptured a Guyana-born murder convict after he escaped.
According to the De Ware Tijd online newspaper, the escaped prisoner, Ramesh Persaud Mohes, 40, was arrested between Wednesday and Thursday night.
The report said that he was arrested at a hotel in Combé by a special unit of the Penitentiary Corps.
Mohes and Shailesh Orie, 39, managed to escape from the Santo Boma Central Criminal Court on Saturday morning. The two would have used a wooden beam to climb over the prison wall.
Orie was arrested Sunday afternoon by a mixed police unit in a residence in Charlesburg.
Mohes was sentenced to 20 years in prison for the murder of his girlfriend in 2016.
Orie is in prison for robbery using violence.
