Guyana Jaguars defeated North Tobago by 26 runs to win the final of the inaugural UDeCOTT T10 four-team cricket tournament which culminated on Sunday night at the Brian Lara Stadium, South Trinidad.
Having won their final preliminary round game against the Windward Islands to book their spot in the final, Guyana Jaguars batted first and posted 130-7. Openers Trevon Griffith and Chandrapaul Hemraj added 36 before Griffith was dismissed for 18, while Hemraj who struck Narine for two sixes and a four was caught off Kieron Pollard for 27. Christopher Barnwell came in an immediately got into his strides with boundaries off Rayad Emrit and along with Anthony Bramble propped up the total with purposeful batting. Barnwell was bowled by Emrit for a top score of 44 in the seventh over with Guyana Jaguars on 98 for 3. But Bramble continued to gather runs and rallied the Jaguars to 130-7; he made 25. Sunil Narine, who picked up three wickets in the final over, was the pick of the bowlers, while Emrit had two.
Seamer Clinton Pestano produced a tidy first over, but Narine threatened as he clobbered Barnwell for two sixes to take the score of 19 without loss at the end of the second over. Narine and Mario Belcon took the 58 in five overs before Romario Shepherd handed Guyana Jaguars the breakthrough with the wicket of Belcon for 22 and later removed Narine for 44. Pollard was dismissed by Keemo Paul for 25, while Dwayne Bravo made one as North Tobago finished on 104-5. Paul took two wickets for the Guyanese.
