What is anticipated to be two riveting semi final matches are set for today at the GFF National Training Facility, Providence, East Bank Demerara in the Georgetown Football Association leg of the GFF/KFC Under-20 Independence Cup knockout tournament.
Fruta Conquerors and Santos brushed aside their respective opponents, Riddim Squad and Beacons Football Club yesterday to confirm their places in today’s final four from 13:30hrs when GT Panthers match skills with Fruta Conquerors to be followed by the Santos vs Georgetown Football Club, showdown.
The two winners will collide in the final on Saturday with the losers playing the third place match.
Meanwhile, in yesterday’s action, Conquerors hammered Riddim Squad 13-2 led by Ryan ‘Bum Bum’ Hackett who is heading to Brazil for a one month pre-season training at Brazilian second-division side, Madurei
ra Esporte Clube, with a helmet-trick (2nd, 28th, 35th, 83rd), Nicholas McArthur also blasted a helmet-trick (13th, 16th, 45th, 51st).
Nehemiah Gomes (60th, 70th) and Ronnel Brandis (62nd, 71st) each hit in doubles with the other coming off the boot of Reshaun Ritch in the 37th minute. Riddim Squad got their two goals from Shamar Allen in the 20th minute and Deshaun Ellis in the 79th minute.
Santos FC got past Beacons FC 4-2, Darron Niles scored twice for the winners (39th, 41st), and his teammates Randy Roberts and Kevin Mullin tucked in theirs in the 33rd and 83rd minutes.
Vincent Willings (57th) and Darien Dickson (59th) were the players on target for Beacons.
