The Management of Guyanese leading youth and sports organisation, the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club, MS in 2015 estab
lished the Dolphin Award of Excellence to honour Guyanese they view as positive role models to youths, while recognising their contributions to the development of Guyana. The Award has a maximum limit of sixty Awardees who are specially selected by the Club Management and representatives of the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club ten cricket teams.
The Awardees recognised and honoured this year are Dr. Aaron Fraser, Dr. Devendra Radhay, Dennis Deroop, Geeta Chandan-Edmond and Donna Todd.
The Dolphin Award of Excellence is the highest of twelve award of the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club and is specially reserved for Guyanese who have worked beyond the call of duty to the development of sports and society while being role models. Over the last four years, the Awardees have included President David Granger, who is also the RHTYSC Honorary Patron, Prime Minister Moses Nagamootoo, Director of Sports Christopher Jones, Jennifer Cipriani, Bert Sukhai, Onai Vasconcellos, Avenash Ramzan, Frankie Wilson, Gregory Rambarran, Rajendra Ganga, Larry Wills, David Armogan and Avia
Lindie. Some Non-Guyanese like former General Manager of Busta Robert Selman, West Indies Female Captain Stephanie Taylor and overseas based Guyanese Brian Ramphal have also received the prestigious award.
Dr. Devendra Radhay a Cuban trained Medical Doctor at the Port Mourant Hospital has made a remarkable impression as Doctor in Charge of the Port Mourant Hospital and has spearheaded a transformation of the institution. The Highly respected Doctor also played a major role in the recovery of RHTYSC Secretary/CEO Hilbert Foster who was recently a patient at the Hospital.
Dennis Deroop is the Regional Vice Chairman of Region 6 and a strong supporter of the Club. He has assisted the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club to obtain funding to upgrade the Area ‘H’ Ground and a positive role model to the Club where he is a regular visitor to matches and practice sessions. His son Christopher Deroop, a member of the Club recently represented Berbice at the Under-25 level.
Attorney-at-Law Geeta Chandan-Edmond is a Berbician by birth who has excelled in her profession. She once served as a highly respected Magistrate and currently serves as a Legal Advisor to the Ministry of the Presidency. Dr. Aaron Fraser is the Chief Executive of Power Producer and Distribution Inc and a highly respected Accountant. Mrs. Donna Todd currently serves as the General Manager (ag) of the Guyana National Newspapers Limited and has been at the forefront of a positive transformation of the Guyana Chronicle.
Secretary Hilbert Foster, MS congratulated the Awardees and stated that the Club was honoured to recognise them as role models and committed Guyanese. He urged them to uplift their high standards and to share their work ethics with the younger generation of Guyanese as our young nation seeks to develop even further.
