Reliance Hustlers, RG XI, Bacchus Bulls and Queenstown have secured their places in the semi finals of the Banks DIH softball cricket competition following victories in their respective quarterfinal matches played recently at Affiance, Essequibo Coast.
Reliance Hustlers defeated Queenstown Ariel by four wickets. Batting first, Queenstown Ariel managed 142 all out in 13.2 overs. Frank Satrohan made 63, while Brian Mangar scored 37. Narendra Madholall, Ramesh Narine and Daniel Bholo picked up two wickets each. Reliance Hustlers responded with 147-6 in 12.1 overs. Mark Austin struck 57 not out while Bholo made 22 not out. Anil Durga took 2-20.
RG XI beat Diehard Brothers by six wickets. Diehard Brothers took first strike and posted 182-4 off their allocation of 15 overs. Patrick Rooplall stroked 78, while Yadesh Semangal cracked 74; Dovendra Mohan claimed 2-24. RG XI replied with 184-4 in 13 overs. Quentin Sampson slammed 60, while Mohan made 58 and Adina Smith 46. Harrinarine Panday captured 3-7.
Bacchus Bulls overcame Richmond Ravens by 57 runs. In a match which was reduced to 10 overs and played under lights, Bacchus Bulls scored 143-6 with Latchman Rohit scoring 64 and Neiland Cadogan, the tournament’s leading run scorer and only centurion so far, made 34. Safraz Ally snared 2-36. Richmond Ravens could only muster 86-6 in reply. Marvin Pearson scored 30 and Sugrim Ahiram 22; Thakur Samlall had 2-13.
Queenstown B upset pre-tournament favourites Adventure Sports Club by 30 runs. Following their insertion, Queenstown B rallied to 136-8. Akeel Wallace stroked 64 while Marvin Seymour made 21; Shaz Grovesnor picked up 2-25. Adventure Sports Club were limited to 106-6 in response. Gavindra Sharma led with 34 and Javid Azeez made 21; Motilall Narine claimed 2-17.
Earlier, Bacchus Bulls defeated Adventure SC by 25 runs to top group B. Bacchus Bulls rattled up 225-5, taking first strike. Rohit made 73 while Cadogan got 58 and Ganesh Mangal 46. Grovesnor had 2-36. Adventure SC replied with 200 in 15 overs. Chandi Jairam made 48 and Grovesnor 43; Yaseer Mohamed and Mangal took two wickets each.
Queenstown/Ariel beat RGXI by seven wickets to top group A. Batting first, RG XI scored 99-2 in eight overs. Sampson made 48 and David Williams 38. Queenstown Ariel responded with 103-3 in 7.2 overs. Brian Mangar made 48.
