Upsetters won the Bartica leg of the Ivanoff Vodka Nationwide Dominoes competition which was played recently at Reno’s Sports Bar
. Upsetters chalked up 85 games to win the final ahead of Lotto with 79 and Bartica Mix Up with 69.
Phillip David made the maximum 18 games for the winners while Dexter Williams made 15 for Lotto and Vackacy Schroeder 12 for Bartica Mix up. In the West Demerara leg, Big Lall marked 82 games to win Zone One which was contested last weekend at Frankies Shop.
Destruction placed second with 61 games followed by Good Time on 60. Delon George top scored for Big Lall with the maximum 18 games while Kenroy Brandis made 15 for Destruction and Steve Hicks 12, for Good Time.
Chiney won Zone Two with 79 games ahead of Frankies with 76 and Shattas, 60. Nazim Joseph and Raymond Brown made 16 each for the winners while Terrence Pollard scored 15 for Frankies and Toney Grovesnor 14 for Shattas.
On Sunday last at Turning Point in Georgetown, Mix Up won Zone One with 78 games ahead of Players 70 and Turning Point on 65. Mix Up maintained the lead in the final sitting and booked their passage to the Nationwide Playoffs as one of the favourites; Mark Wiltshire and Gilbert Mendonca marking 16 and 14 games, respectively.
Players were led by Phillip Sergeant 16 and Earl Mars 14 while Colin Mc Ewan and Sandra Welch made 15 each for Turning Point. Spartans and OPKO have also secured their places in the Playsoffs after C7 failed to show up for the Zone Two final.
Zone Three was taken by Providence with 72 games followed by Gold for Money with 68 and Masters, 60. Providence was spearheaded by Lawrence Beaton who tallied 16 games and Junior Smith 15 while Kanhai Samaroo scored 16 and Shawn Morgan 15 for the runner up team. Masters’ leading players were Rodwell Phillip and Colin Anderson with 16 and 15 games. The Nationwide Playoffs which was scheduled to commence this weekend has been re-scheduled; a new date will be announced later.
Meanwhile, Mark Wiltshire will be hosting a four-game six sittings competition on Sunday at Turning Point starting at 14:00hrs. Entrance fee is 10,000.
