Sgt. charged with sexual assault on woman in police vehicle
Forty-eight year-old Police Sergeant Norris Henry, of Tuschen Housing Scheme, East Bank Essequibo, appeared yesterday before a city magistrate

and was required to answer to a sexual assault charge, after he allegedly fondled a woman en route to making an arrest.
Henry is attached to the Alberttown Police Station.
The charge alleges that on October 17, 2018, at Alberttown, Georgetown, Henry sexually assaulted a woman. He denied the allegation which was read to him by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
According to information, on the day in question, the woman went to the station and made a report. Henry then allegedly decided to accompany her to make an arrest based on her report.
Shorty after the officer and the woman left the station in a police vehicle; Henry reportedly placed his hands under the woman’s skirt and rubbed her legs.
The woman recently made a report of the incident. An investigation was carried out and the charge was instituted against Henry.
After listening to the facts presented by the prosecutor, Magistrate McLennan released the defendant on $120,000 bail. She adjourned the matter until May 21.
