Henrietta United needled Charity Extreme when play in the Essequibo Coast Pomeroon Football Association (ECPFA) got underway on Sunday last at the Anna Regina Community Center Ground.
Scoring the goal for the winners was Ariel Chester in the 29th minute. The other match ended in a 2-0 win for Good Hope over Tapakuna Jags FC. Both goals came off the boot of Dwayne Thomas in the 43rd and 70th minutes, respectively.
Berbice Football Association
This leg also kicked off on Sunday May 5th at the Esplanade Park in New Amsterdam. New Amsterdam United won via the walk over route from Hopetown Football Club, while Monedderlust FC lost via kicks from the penalty mark 4-5 to Arsenal FC.
The score was tied 1-1 at the end of regulation time and as per tournament rules during this phase of competition, there is no extra time; matches are decided via kicks from the penalty mark. Monedderlust had taken the early lead when Dwight Schultz scored in the 9th minute.
Arsenal were able to equalize in the 35th minute, thanks to a Theddeus De Florimonte strike. On Monday May 6th at the same venue, East Bank Gunners also won via kicks from the penalty mark against Corriverton Links following a 1-1 stalemate.
Teon George had given East Bank Gunners the lead on 27 minutes but Corriverton Links responded in like manner through a Travis Flatts 62nd minute effort.
And Cougars defeated Mahaicony FC 3-1, thanks to goals from Shaquan George in the 22nd minute, William Sommersall in the 47th and Kenroy D’Aguir in the 60th. Mahaicony got their consolation goal from Jermain Pereira in the 53rd minute.
Action in Berbice will continue today at the same venue with a double header from 14:00hrs when New Amsterdam United face East Bank Gunners FC. From 16:00hrs, Cougars will come up against Monedderlust.
Upper Demerara Football Association
Capital FC got their quest for top honours underway with a 2-1 win over Netrockers Last Sunday at the Wisburg Ground. Netrockers took the lead in the 15th minute when A. Cumberbatch scored. Matches are slated for today at the Mackenzie Sports Club Ground from 19:00hrs with two games slated.
Bartica Football Association
The Bartica Football Association leg of the tournament is set to kick off tomorrow afternoon at the Bartica Secondary School Ground with a match between Wolves United and Rising Stars from 16:30hrs. On Tuesday at the same venue and from the same time, Potaro Strikers will take on Beacons FC.
Rupununi Football Association
Guyana Rush Saints edged past Terminators FC 3-2 thanks to goals from Terrell Paulino in the 6th minute, Joram Thompson in the 28th and Julius Phillips in the 68th minute. Terminators got their goals from Gibson Francis in the 14th minute and Raphael Auscidio in the 50th minute.
Rising Stars blanked Snatchers FC 2-0 on account of goals from O. Ronaldo and K. Solomon.
