As the battle for the only available spot to represent the East Bank Football Association in the National Playoffs of the GFF/KFC Independence KO
Cup continue, the lone semi-final would be contested tomorrow at the GFF National Training Facility.
Set to face off from 10:00hrs in what is expected to be a fierce battle are Timehri Panthers and Grove Hi Tech. Soesdyke Falcons drew the bye to the final following the conclusion of two rounds of play.
Grove Hi Tech chartered their way to this stage via wins over Diamond Upsetters (walk over) and were 3-1 winners over Kuru Kururu Warriors. Timehri Panthers defeated Herstelling Raiders (6-0) and Agricola Red Triangle via sudden death penalty kicks 5-4, after a 1-1 tie in regulation time. Soesdyke Falcons had defeated Mocha Champs 3-0 and hammered Diamond United 13-2.
Timehri’s quest for a win would center around the likes of forward Tyrone Burnett, national Under-17 defender Shannon Samnauth who just returned from the Concacaf Championship in Florida, national Under-17 goalkeeper Ronaldo Blair who has also returned from Florida, Ishmael Pulsaram (midfielder) and utility player, Prince Forde.
Grove High Tech will depend on former national Under-17 defender Akel Clarke, Trevon Pluck will control the midfield, Paul Fields will be hunting goals upfront while experienced custodian Usher Jones will be their last line of defense.
The leading goal scorers to date are Soesdyke Falcon’ Tyrone Khan with 5, his teammate Mark Barker has 3 the same as Tyrone Burnett of Timehri Panthers whose club mate, Ishmael Pulsaram has 2.
West Demarara FA Semis
Meanwhile, the semi finals of the West Demerara Football Association leg of the competition will also be played tomorrow at the Den Amstel Community Center ground. Pouderoyen will oppose Eagles whilst the home team, Den Amstel will match skills with Uitvlugt Warriors.
