DEAR EDITOR,
Kindly allow me a space in your column to respond to a letter ‘Lethem’s AFC PR concerned about issues surrounding Regional Tender Board’ on behalf of the Lethem AFC family to the gross inaccuracies published in that letter.
Mr. Rommel Harrinandan who proudly presented himself as an AFC PR for constituency #4 on the night of the Local Government Election abandoned the political party he is now claiming to be a part of. When he was asked to make a presentation on the night of the only rally held by the Lethem AFC group that individual shirked his responsibility. It was noticed by the group that Mr. Harrinandan publicly criticised the Coalition Government and their supporters, he publicly supported what Mr. Charrandass did. The Lethem AFC group now recognised that he was just a PPP mole. While he is attacking the REO Mr. Carl Parker on the issue of conflict of interest, it is obvious that he is losing his marbles, because his brother–in–law, the Vice- Chairman, Karl Singh, was a sitting member of the tender board when contracts were awarded to Mr. Harrinandan entire family including that very individual. Mr. Editor what is more puzzling is that Mr. Harrinandan mentioned and I quote from his letter the list is bloated with a bunch of first-timers and strong supporters from the APNU and not AFC who has no record of paying tax in this country, who has no record of work done in the respective field, who has no necessary tools and equipments and persons who are predominantly Afro Guyanese. My question to Mr. Harrinandan is ‘What kind of equipment, experience, and knowledge he and his sister possess in the field of contracting services, to be awarded contracts last year since he is a school teacher and she a clerk at an insurance company? It is in my take that Mr. Harrinandan is being unfair and is now criticizing the young contractors. Experience and knowledge are not gained on first hand but comes with years of experiences. When these contracts were awarded last year there were no complains but now the tide is not going as he wants and there is a trace of bitterness.
From Rommel’s writing, it is clear that this is a strategy of lies and confusion to cause discord among the strong coalition government. The Lethem AFC group wishes to dissociate its self from such manifestation in this accord. We wish to state category that Mr. Harrinandan ‘warishii’ of discord, inaccuracy, and ignorance will not be upheld by our party.
The AFC has also noted the recent incidents of sabotage in the region by persons who are bitter and who do not want to see the coalition government show of love to the Rupununi people. The burning of a bridge and the damaging of the newly installed solar panels for the water system in a southern village, is so sad. It is also noted of frequent malfunction of the radio stations in Lethem and Aishalton. All these sabotage that is happening it is a question as to how and who are operatives of the radio station in Lethem and Aishalton. These bitter persons should note that the coalition stands strong, and we the Lethem AFC group, supports Mr. Carl Parker and his decisions in awarding contracts to young entrepreneurs who are educated and knowledgeable and with time they will evolve to be better skilled in this field.
The Lethem AFC group would like to wish Mr. Rommel Harrinandan all the best in his future endeavours and we hope that he matures with time.
Yours Respectfully,
Ahrens Landry
Chairperson- Lethem AFC Group
