Ariel and Wellman Masters have secured their places in the final of the Trophy Stall 15-over softball tournament following victories in their respective semi final games played on Sunday last at the Malteenoes Sports Club.
Ariel defeated Success Masters by 12 runs in their semi final encounter. Ariel took first strike and posted 166-8. Saheed Gittens slammed six fours and four sixes in a top score of 61, while Oslyn Batson made 33 with four fours and two sixes and Richard Persaud 31. Randy Katwaroo claimed 2-20. Wellman Masters overcame Narine XI by 90 runs in their semi final game. Wellman Masters batted first and managed 214-4. Latchman Kallicharran led with 54 while Greg De Franca made 44; Nandram Samlall 35 and Sheldon Perch 34 not out. Jailall
Ramlall took 2-31. Narine XI were limited to 124-9 in response. Mahendra Nauth made 27; Perch grabbed 3-0 from one over while Ganesh Sookdeo snared 3-22.
Earlier, Ariel defeated Narine Masters by 97 runs. Ariel batted first and managed 232-3. Saheed Gittens struck six fours and 14 sixes in an unbeaten 132, while Ron Ramnauth made 59 with five fours and three sixes.
Narine Masters were bowled out for 135 in 13 overs in reply. Ramesh Bisraj made 45 while Andre DeRoop contributed 19 as Robert Kumar claimed 3-22 and Oslyn Batson 2-19.
Success Masters beat HS Masters by seven wickets. H S Masters were bowled out for 83 in 11 overs, taking first strike. Patrick Khan got 27; S. Singh claimed 3-19 and Sham Persaud 2-17.
