The present deplorable state of Good Hope Roads as a result of alleged haphazard works done by the NDC
Residents of Good Hope, East Coast Demerara, are outraged about the outcome of results of haphazard road works done by the members of the Lusignan/Mon Repos Neighbourhood Democratic Council (NDC).
A few weeks ago, residents complained that the NDC had dumped sand and mud on the road in a carefree fashion. The residents were worried about the eventual outcome when the rainy weather came.
The May/June rains appear to have started and the state of the roads has become worse than before, making movement by vehicles and pedestrians an almost intolerable process.
Residents had noted that workers from the NDC, when attempting repairs to damaged road in the village, dumped loam and mud in a carefree fashion and just left the mixture there.
When contacted earlier, the NDC Overseer, Parsram Ramkissoon, had indicated that the mud and sand was dumped there, temporarily. He said that the material would have been removed to do road repairs around the village. However, according to villagers the stuff was left until the rains came these past few days and the village is now in a terrible state.
Villagers are calling on the RDC and Ministry of Communities to take action as the state of the road creates havoc for vehicles and commuters alike attempting to move around the village.
Villagers are of the view that the NDC Chairman has no respect for the comfort or welfare of villagers, and has been very unkind and unprofessional in his actions.
