The one day cricket competition which was oganised by the Edinburgh Warriors Cricket Club of East Bank Berbice was won by
the East Bank Blazers Cricket.
The event, which also featured a fun day, was held at Edinburgh Community Center and featured six teams.
The teams that took part were Rose Hall Community Center, Edinburgh Warriors, Mount Sinai, Flying Star, East Bank Blazers and Guymine.
After a day of keen competition East Bank Blazers, Guymine and Mount Sinai made it to the semifinal stage with East Bank Blazers drawing the bye to the final.
In the semifinal Guymine defeated Mount Sinai CC by one run to book their place in the final against East Bank Blazers.
In the final, the East Bank Blazers defeated Guymine by 28 runs. East Bank Blazers batted first and blazed away to 70 off th
eir five overs. Guymine in reply could only muster 48.
The day’s activity was held as a fund raiser for the Edinburgh Cricket Club which was recently resuscitated by overseas based Guyanese Mr. Egbert Lyken-Edwards and his wife Maureen Lyken-Edwards.
At the end of the day’s activity the East Bank Blazers were presented with the winning trophy by the organisers, while Jamal Henry, who scored the most runs during the day, 90 runs including 55 not out off of 16 deliveries with 6 sixes and 2 fours in one game, also received a prize. (Samuel Whyte)
