Director of Sport Christopher Jones was on hand to welcome the Chess Team who arrived home from the just concluded 8th Carifta Chess Championship in Curacao, Netherland Antilles.
In an invited comment from the National Sports Commission, Chess Coach Wendell Meusa said he was please with the players performance and more so a few of the players have improved on their ran
king in the sport.
The good news for the sport is that Guyana will be hosting the 2020 tournament.
Christopher Jones also thanked the players and parents who travelled with the team and expressed the Government’s praise to them for ending in 5th position out of ten countries.
Assistant Director of Sport Melissa Dow was also on hand to welcome the Carifta Swimming team and Officials.
