And the grand weekend concluded with a bang on Easter Monday as several thousand persons descended on the course to picnic, play games, fly kites and generally relax and enjoy themselves for what turned out to be the largest crowd ever at the LGC. Dozens of kids hunted for Easter Eggs in an activity well coordinated by Nadia Kalika and Michelle Codrington of Nexgen and sponsored by club member Rudy Ramalingum of New Trend Auto, new member Mr. Adityanand Persaud, and club supporter Dr. Jhagru of the GPHC Emergency department. Banks DIH was also on hand to offer many drink specials and the music and fun continued late into the night as visitors relaxed in the cool and breezy atmosphere.
Many of the first-time visitors to the course spellbound by the beauty, serenity and great lawns of the golf course with lots of trees, and ponds for fishing (in rainy season) vowed to return and even bring their kids and spouses to play the game of golf. 9-time Guyana Open Women’s Champion, Christine Sukhram, was on hand to teach newcomers how to putt in a prize winning raffle giveaway. President of the Club reiterates that the Club will teach the game FREE of cost to anyone willing to learn and asks that interested persons contact the club (220-5660/645-0944) or visit their Facebook page Lusignangolfclub for more details.
President of the LGC Aleem Hussain expressed his gratitude to the team of Romel & Robin with all the staff who worked tirelessly to make this weekend enjoyable for so many families. He added “we expect that several new members will come out of this Easter weekend’s activity and based on the reaction of the guests, we feel that the LGC has a great future both in the game of golf and as a fun family destination.”
On Saturday April 27th, Assuria Insurance Group of Companies will host their inaugural tournament as the LGC kicks off the second half of its season. With Banks DIH, Torginol Paints, El Dorado (DDL), Kissoons, Macorp and AMCHAM all scheduled to host major events between now and June 15th. All are expected to attract the top golfers and new players to the Club.
