Berbice man in custody for allegedly raping 8-year-old niece

Cops in Berbice are investigating an alleged rape of an eight-year-old girl. They have since arrested the accused who has been identified as the child’s uncle.
According to reports, the mother of the eight-year-old left her in the care of her uncle and went on an outing with another relative. It was during the time the child stayed with the uncle on Saturday night that he reportedly lured the little girl into a bedroom and raped her.
Kaieteur News understands that when the mother of the girl returned home, she relayed the harrowing details of what her uncle had done to her. The mother immediately summoned authorities and the man was subsequently arrested. Her daughter was taken for a medical examination.
Commander of the Division, Kevin Adonis, only confirmed that the man was in custody and that they are investigating..
