Matthew Nandu followed up his 3-22 with an accomplished 35 for NY Tri State U-19s at YMCA yesterday.
A useful all round performance from Matthew Nandu and an incisive spell of fast bowling from Abhayjit Khangura led the NY Tri State to a commanding seven-wicket win overs Guyana’s Queen’s College despite a gritty 25 from Elnathan Sukhnandan in the first round of the GCA/ Tri State USA 50-over U-19 League at the YMCA ground yesterday.
In hot conditions QC made 134 all out in a game reduced to 38 overs due to late start as only Sukhnandan who hit four fours in his 25 reached 20. Malachi Griffith with 15 was the next best scorer as pacer Khangura who took the first three wickets to leave the local school on 26-3, had 3-12, while off Spinner Nandu (3-23) and Gautham Ravindran had 2-22 for the
young Americans who replied with 135-3 in 15.4 overs.
Nandu made 35 from 39 balls with three fours and a six, while Saiteja Mukkamalla scored 28 with three four and a six as they added 39 for the
first wicket before Mukkamalla fell to Sukhnandan.
Chaitanya Parwal (1) and Ishaan Bansal (0) fell in quick succession with the score on 50 before Isaiah Jagernauth who made 38 from 26 balls with six fours and six and Nandu featured in an unbroken 85-run fourth wicket stand to see their team to victory. (Sean Devers)
