The dominant Albion Community Centre Cricket Club have reached to the Final of the 2019 Berbice Cricket Board Board/Shimron Hetmyer 40-Overs Intermediate Cricket Tournament. They defeated Young Warriors Cricket Club by 4 wickets at the Albion Community Centre Ground based on a brilliant allround performance by former Guyana Under-19 player Sharaz Ramcharran. No. 72 All Stars Cricket Club also advanced to the Semifinals after defeating Dukestown Cricket Club at the Scottsburg Ground. No. 72 All Stars Cricket Club would now play Rose Hall Town Bakewell in the other Semifinals, to determine who would play Albion Community Centre in the Final.
Young Warriors Cricket Club won the toss and batted first but lost wickets regularly to find themselves at 63 for 5 in the 17th Over as they lost Linden Austin 25, Alex Algoo 07, Mortimer Fraser 14, Trevlon Stanislaus 05 and Sanjay Khan 05. Captain Seon Hetmyer hit a responsible 52 which included three boundaries and with support from Jermain Benjamin, 19, saw their team to 161 all out in 36.1 Overs. Off spinner Sharaz Ramcharran took 3 for 30, David Latchana 2 for 23 and Inzam Shazam 2 for 19 for Albion.
Albion Community Centre in response, found themselves at 61 for 4, losing Jeetendra Autar 16, Ritesh Umroa 00, Adrian Sukwah 24 and David Latchaya 03. Ramcharran completed a good allround performance with a solid uneaten 75 and received good support from Antonio February 14 and Devendra Latchman 15 as Albion achieved victory at 164 for 7 in 36.1 Overs. Suresh Dhanai ended with 3 for 21 and left arm Trevon Stanislaus 2 for 38.
At the Scottsburg Ground, Dukestown were bowled out for 113 in 29.4 Overs as K. Chatterpaul took 3 for 14. He received support from P. Chatterpaul 2 for 18 and P. Gobin 2 for 17 as only W. Amsterdam, B. Sukhdeo and J. Reid 12 reached double figures in a disappointing batting display. In response, No. 72 All Stars was indebted to an unbeaten 22 from K. Chatterpaul as they reached 114 for 7 in 23.3 Overs. T. Ramdass 16, G. Chatterpaul 17 and P. Chatterpaul 20 supported well. J. Reid took 3 for 30, W. Garret 3 for 12 and V. Narine 2 for 3 in a losing cause.
The Tournament is being sponsored by West Indies batting star Shimron Hetmyer.
