‘D’ Division’s Jason Anderson tucks a ball past mid-wicket during his unbeaten 59 at Eve Leary yesterday.

Despite back-to-back fifties from Essequibo Franchise player Kemol Savory, an unbeaten 59 from Jason Anderson saw ‘G’ Division suffer their first loss at the knock-out stage while ‘F’ Division crushed ‘E’ by 9 wickets in the Quarter Finals of the Commissioner of Police Birth Anniversary Inter-Division and Branches T20 Tournament at Eve Leary yesterday to march into next Tuesday’ semi-finals.
In the morning game, ‘G’ Division made 138-9 in 20 overs as only the left-handed Savory, who followed his 73 on Wednesday with an attractive 53 (3×4 2×6). But although he added 53 for the third wicket with Oyona Sampson who made 27 (2×4 2×6), no other batsman reached double figures; Boshnarine Lalbachan (2-19) and Shemar Holder (2-24) bowled well for ‘D’ Division which reached 145-5 in 18.4 overs.
Anderson hit 59 (8×4) and added 80 for the fourth wicket with Denry Henry, whose 39 was aided by four

boundaries, one of them a towering six. Ronald Alleyne began the chase by hammering Savory for three scorching boundaries in the first over on bone dry and rough outfield before Fazal Khan had him stumped for 12 at 18-1.
Khan trapped O’Donnell Hill LBW for a duck without addition to score in the same over and when Lalbachan (6) was dismissed by Shekel Vyfhuis at 37-3, ‘G’ Division seemed on course for a semi-final spot with their sixth consecutive win.
But Anderson and Henry had other ideas; with Anderson cutting Khan behind point for a glorious boundary before repeating the shot against Kwasi Adamsfor a similar result before Henry smashed Vyfhuis back past his ankles for four to post the 50 in the seventh.
Both batmen played several delightful shots and another good turn-out saw the pair build their partnership nicely before Henry fell to Vyfhuis at 117-4 and although Adrian Welcome (5) departed at 124-4, Anderson remained to the end to see him team home.
The afternoon produced a mauling for ‘E’ Division in steaming conditions as they were bowled out for 54 in 9.2 overs with only Garfield Moore (22) and Anthony Adams
Quintin Sampson, who had 3-26, has E’bo Franchise player Anthony Adams caught behind as ‘E’ Division were skittled for 54.
(15) reaching two-digit scores as Devon Joseph (4-2), Quentin Sampson, who got the prized scalp of ‘E’ Division’s most accomplished batsman, Adams, caught behind, finished with 3-26.
Lennox Andrews and Leon Crawford made light work of the target after the burly Michael Jobe (2) swung Adams to deep mid-wicket at 14-1. The pair blasted the bowlers to all parts of the field and thrice out of the ground to gallop to 57-1 in just 4.5
overs.
Crawford clobbered Garfield Moore for a couple of huge sixes in the first over. Andrews finished on 37 from just 11 balls with sixes boundaries which included two hits into the Red Cross compound over the Road from the ground.
Crawford took just five balls for his unbeaten 18 (1×4 2×6) for a victory that was always going to be an easy one after six ‘E’ Division batsmen failed to score and two of them were run out including Moore, who seemed a bit unfortunate to be given out.
Today, in the last two quarter finals games, favourites ‘B’ Division take on ‘A’ Division while in the afternoon match-up defending champions President’s Guards (PG) face another powerhouse unit in Headquarters (HQ) lead by their brutal opening pair of Andrew Lyght and Kevin Boodie who both scored centuries in the only double century opening stand in the history of this tournament. Matches are scheduled to commence at 09:30hrs and 13:30hrs.
