DEAR EDITOR,
The good governance environment in Guyana seems to be getting worse by the year. Two of the more important documents on Guyana’s 2018 economic performance are still undone and unpublished. Shame on the Granger Administration!
It is now almost April 15 and still both the Bank of Guyana 2018 Annual Report remains incomplete and unpublished along with the Ministry of Finance End of Year Outcome Report – 2018.
Mind you on April 12, 2018, the Ministry of Finance published the End of Year Outcome Report – 2017 (source – https://finance.gov.gy/?p=4685) and the Bank of Guyana followed with publication of their 2017 Annual Report (source – https://bit.ly/2GitUMj) within days.
So what is the problem in 2019; lack of foreign currency to buy ink? Or is the priority hustling to offer more public contracts without following the rules of integrity and proper public procurement?
By way of this letter and with the kind courtesy of your pages, please permit me to invite the Minister to clarify why there is the perception that there is degradation in his reporting responsibilities to the people of Guyana. After all, isn’t it all about “accountability to We the People”?
